It was with pride and honour that Stourport-on-Severn Brass Band led the procession of veterans, scouts and guides at the Service of Remembrance at St John the Baptist Church, Claines, Worcester. On a crisp Autumn morning, the Worcestershire lanes were lined with onlookers as the band performed Slaidburn, Death and Glory and The Royal British Legion marches.

2021 was an especially poignant performance, the first in 2 years, the band being unable to play during 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions. And this year, S0SBB was delighted to welcome Jack Wilson, son of Musical Director Oliver Wilson and cornet player Sarah, into its ranks. 12-year old Jack played trombone on the front line of the procession. A great performance Jack – well done!
Excitement was high on the afternoon of Saturday 30th October 2021 as SoSBB arrived in Evesham for Wychavon Festival of Brass Entertainment Contest.

And WOW! SoSBB achieved a fabulous 2nd place in the Third Section and Best Baritones trophies for Lin and Katy! In a music set focused on the Teddy Bear’s Ragtime Picnic, sporting teddy ears, it was a ‘bear-tastic’ performance!
On Sunday 29th September 2019, the band hosted its 50th Anniversary Concert at Stourport Civic Hall.

Sharing in the celebrations, the audience was treated to a lovely afternoon tea, listening to the band’s performance, whilst supporting 2 amazing charities: Kemp Hospice and the Neuroendocrine Cancer Unit at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
On its Golden Anniversary, SoSBB launched its new CD ‘Celebration’ to commemorate this milestone in the band’s history. Copies are available at future band performances.
On 22nd and 23rd June 2019, SoSBB had a wonderful time recording a new CD. Titled ‘Celebration’, the CD commemorates 50 years since the inception of the band and has a diverse repertoire of pieces – something for everyone!
Players put in much practice to bring the pieces up to scratch for the recording and are very proud of what they achieved. Although hard work, the afternoon was a lot of fun.
You can pick up a copy of ‘Celebration’ at future concerts.
